Nexstar Broadcasting's retransmission agreements with 150 cable systems brought an extra $3 million into its coffers during the first quarter, according to the quarterly report filed today with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Of that total, $2 million was in the form of cash compensation, with the other million coming from advertising revenue, according to the report. That compared to just $500,000 in compensation during the first quarter of 2005.
Nexstar officials reported an increase in net revenue of 12.2 percent during the quarter, "primarily from the increase in local, national and political advertising revenue along with retransmission consent compensation."
Nexstar Broadcasting owns KSNF in Joplin and KSFX in Springfield and is de facto owner of KODE in Joplin and KOLR in Springfield, which are purportedly owned by Mission Broadcasting.
