Today's Kansas City Star features an article discussing the expansion of the organization which is fighting illegal immigration. Chapters are being formed far away from the Mexican/American border in states such as Missouri which have seen large numbers of immigrants.
In Missouri, where the U.S. Census Bureau says the immigrant population has increased 31 percent in the last five years, the group is opening branches in Springfield and Joplin, two cities near poultry plants nestled in the Ozark Mountains.
"The whole purpose of the Minutemen is to secure our borders, and to get that done we know we're going to have to turn up the heat on politicians in every state," said Greg Thompson, a retired advertising executive in Oklahoma City and a coordinator for the Minutemen. "We're also going to go out on the job and identify contractors that are hiring illegals. If he keeps it up, we're going to turn him into the authorities."
While illegal immigration is undoubtedly a problem in our nation, I can see a danger in an organization like this coming in. On the other hand, if the person put in charge of the House's special committee on immigration thinks the problem is caused by the availability of abortion, I suppose people feel they have to do something.

I might also add that the Minutemaen, or some of it's affiliated organizations, are under investigation by the FBI and/or the IRS as reported by a Phoenix TV station. I don't know the details, but apparently someone has been making a lot of money out of this political ploy.
Plus they has publically stated that they want to be the "new" political party. That alone is reason to be suspicious of their motives.
Is "minute men" the nicknames their wives give them?
