Leggett & Platt to be honored

Carthage-based Fortune 500 company Leggett & Platt will be honored as Supplier of the Year during the annual Furniture Today Leadership Conference scheduled for Nov. 27-29 in Palm Beach, Fla.:

Furniture/Today Executive Editor David Perry said, “While Leggett & Platt may not be a familiar name to consumers, it’s a well-known and highly respected name in the trade, producing components for sleep sets and upholstered furniture, as well as offering a full line of metal beds in its Fashion Bed Group.”

L&P made news this year on several fronts. In March, it unveiled its Idea Center, a multi-million dollar research and development facility stocked with state-of-the-art computers and lab equipment. The center will help the company stay on the cutting edge of product development for the home furnishings industry, company officials said.

In the mattress arena, Leggett has launched an aggressive campaign to tout the advantages of innerspring bedding, its signature bedding product. It says its “Active Support Technology” provides a superior sleep surface.

The company recently took that message, along with messages about the importance of a good night’s sleep, to retailers and consumers through a national Spring Alive Tour.
