The House passed the bill April 3 by a 143-5 margin. The bill requires for-profit swimming pools to carry sufficient insurance.

The bill, which is sponsored by Rep. Marilyn Ruestman, R-Joplin, and is co-sponsored by five legislators, including Rep. Bryan Stevenson, R-Webb City, Rep. Ed Emery, R-Lamar, and Rep. Kevin Wilson, R-Neosho, is named after six-year-old Ethan Cory, who drowned at The Swimmin' Hole in Joplin on July 17, 2007.
