Hoover cites a letter from Jasper County Republican Party Chairman John Putnam which says allegations against Rita Hunter are unfounded and may have come from her opponents. From Putnam's letter:
While we do not endorse candidates, I do believe it is appropriate to say that I have investigated some of the accusations against Rita Hunter and found them to be unfounded and likely motivated by people seeking her office. Rita is one of the most compassionate and sacrificial people I know on behalf of the needy.

I LOVE IT! Rita Hunter's opponents somehow have the power to cause people to make complaints against her, make reporters investigate those complaints, and then somehow talk attorneys into filing lawsuits against her. That's wonderful that ANYONE has that much power. Rita's opponents should run for the presidential office, or work for the CIA, or maybe they could find Osama bin Laden. Wow!
Happens all the time, just not usually in such low level races.
Rita Hunter is brusque but as John Putnam says, not guilty of the false charges leveled against her.
Rita is guilty as charged and more. Oust her before she does more damage on her big power kick.
Didn't he say he did not endorse anyone in particular and then just go and endorse her? I have lived several places and Jasper county politics takes the cake. What is sad is that most people think that is just the way it is everywhere. The good ole boys are in full control in Jasper County MO. So sad and so embarassing.
