Joplin woman accused of stabbing boyfriend in the face

A Joplin woman was charged in Jasper County Circuit Court today with domestic assault and possession of a controlled substance after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend in the face.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of Brittany Dawn Tyree (DOB 1991), and bond set at $30,000 cash only after the alleged incident, which occurred today at a home in the 1700 block of W. 22nd Street in Joplin.

From the probable cause statement:

Witness 1 stated Tyree came to the apartment and banged on the door until it was opened by Tyree’s boyfriend, JS.

Tyree then immediately began stabbing him in the face with a knife. Tyree fled when police were called. She was located nearby. I saw superficial cuts on Scott’s face.

At jail, an inventory search was conducted. In Tyree’s purse were two crystal pieces appearing to be methamphetamine that a Trunarc test showed to be methamphetamine.

Also located in her purse were 2 torches, a methamphetamine pipe, and a plastic baggy with drug residue.

The case was investigated by the Joplin Police Department.
