Claire McCaskill plans to take the same approach to selling Barack Obama to Missouri that she used to upset Jim Talent in the U. S. Senate race.
On MSNBC's convention coverage, she told co-hosts Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann that the case for Obama still needs to be made in the rural areas. Sen. McCaskill, as you recall, beat Talent by becoming the first Democratic statewide candidate in recent memory to campaign in southwest Missouri on a regular basis. While she did not win any of the rural counties, her vote total was enough, added to her leads in urban areas that she was able to defeat Talent.
The same approach, she feels, will lead Barack Obama to capture Missouri's nine electoral votes.
