Jeff Smith's former treasurer also angling for lighter sentence

With only eight days to go before his sentencing on felony election conspiracy charges, Nick Adams, who served as treasurer for Jeff Smith's 2006 Congressional campaign, is doing his best to trim the length of his sentence.

Adams' lawyer filed a sealed sentencing memorandum in U. S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri today, including 30 exhibits, according to the docket sheet.

The former Sen. Smith, D-St. Louis, has already filed a sealed memorandum, as did their co-conspirator, former Rep. Steve Brown, D-St. Louis. Brown's memorandum was originally filed in open court, and then was sealed after its contents were reported on this blog.
