Missouri Trappers Association endorses Jo Ann Emerson

Forgive me for not knowing this was a big deal, but the Missouri Trappers Association has endorsed Eight District Republican incumbent Jo Ann Emerson. From the news release:

The Missouri Trappers Association (MTA) today announced its endorsement of Jo Ann Emerson for reelection to Congress from Missouri’s Eighth District, citing her strong support for the rights of gun owners and her battle against overregulation by the National Parks Service.

“Jo Ann Emerson has proven that she will strongly defend the rights of gun owners and has consistently fought overregulation by the Parks Service which would devastate the trapping industry,” said Doren Miller, President of the Missouri Trappers Association. “In this election, we are proud to stand alongside Jo Ann just as she has stood with Missouri gun owners and trappers so many times before.”

“The members of the Missouri Trappers Association do an excellent job of not only utilizing, but conserving the abundant natural resources in our state,” said Emerson. “I am proud to stand with them to protect and preserve our Second Amendment rights as well as the rich heritage of our state’s trapping industry.”

Founded in 1958, the MTA is dedicated to the preservation of the heritage and skills of trapping as well as the conservation and utilization of all natural resources in the State of Missouri and the nation. The more than 1,300 members of the MTA work to promote the use of the most effective and humane trapping techniques available.

Miller announced the MTA’s support for Emerson as the organization is set to begin its 2010 fall convention this week in Linn Creek, Mo. In addition to the endorsement announced today, Emerson has also received the endorsement of the National Rifle Association – our nation’s largest association dedicated to the protection and preservation of our Second Amendment rights.

The NRA is nothing but a right wing bunch of nuts. I'm sorry to say I belonged to them one time for less than a year. They expounded on all the fine points of having Dick Cheney speak at one of their gala celebrations. Any organization that would spend millions to support republicans sure don't need my money.
