Rupp vows to lead effort to override Nixon veto of SB 749

(From Sen. Scott Rupp)

State Senator Scott Rupp (R-Wentzville) vowed today (Thursday) to join Sen. John Lamping and lead an effort to override Governor Nixon’s veto of the religious liberty bill SB 749.
“This veto is a slap in the face for individual freedoms in Missouri and is another action by an overreaching federal government forcing a mandate on conscientious individuals,” Sen. Rupp said, “I will work with House and Senate leadership in the coming weeks to make sure we have the votes necessary in the General Assembly to correct the Governor’s assault on religious freedom in Missouri.”
Sen. Rupp co-sponsored this legislation in the Senate and is working with Senate President Pro Tem Rob Mayer and bill sponsor Sen. John Lamping to override the Governor’s veto.
“Over the coming weeks I will urge my colleagues around Missouri to join me in this effort,” Sen. Rupp said.
Sen. Rupp is the only Senator that has overridden a veto by Governor Nixon, which occurred in 2011 with the congressional redistricting bill.
Sen. Rupp has served in the Missouri Senate since 2006 and is a current Republican candidate for Secretary of State. He is the only Republican candidate running in the race to be endorsed by the Missouri Right To Life.

Governor Nixon's logic and reasons for vetoing this bill are sound and defendable. I oppose all efforts to overturn the veto.

I guess if you think corporations are people, then you can support the bill; otherwise, you should be happy with the Governor's veto power.
