On Saturday, during the Department Convention of the American Legion, Missouri State Representative Charlie Davis received the “Legislator of the Year” award for his work during the 2013 legislative session.
The award states: American Legion Legislative Award is presented to Honorable Charlie Davis State Representative District 162 in appreciation for his untiring and concentrated efforts in sponsoring and supporting legislation beneficial to the veterans of Missouri, Presented July 20th, 2013.
“I am humbled and honored to receive an award from a group of great Americans like the American Legion," Davis said. “At a time when we are beginning to miss our WWII veterans, we need to take time to serve and honor ALL our brave men and women who have served and are serving in the defense of our GREAT nation. We MUST ensure we fight daily for those who so sacrificially give of themselves to ensure we as a nation continue to enjoy the freedoms and liberties our military fights to protect,” Davis said as he honored those in attendance.
In his final remarks, Davis closed by saying, “With not a single NO vote on any of our passed legislation this year, I want to applaud the Missouri General Assembly for their tireless support of our military, especially Senator Dan Brown who chairs the Veterans Committee in the Senate and Senator Ron Richard, the majority floor leader, for their desire to protect and serve our men and women in uniform.”
