Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler has taken hundreds of thousands of tax dollars in agricultural subsidies tied to the Farm Bill -- but in a staggering display of hypocrisy, that didn’t stop Congresswoman Hartzler from voting to slash the nutrition assistance subsidies in the same bill to the one in six Missourians who need help putting food on the table.
Congresswoman Hartzler's "Me-First" personal subsidy would feed 250 Missouri families for a year.
That’s why today, Missouri Democrats delivered a $822,151 “check” to Congresswoman Hartzler’s Columbia district office, representing the hundreds of thousands of tax dollars Missourians have paid in agriculture subsidies to Congresswoman Hartzler. Attached is a image of the check, which was delivered to her Columbia district office earlier today.
“Congresswoman Hartzler’s hypocrisy is typical of her dysfunctional Washington politics which are out touch with Missouri values,” said Joe Duffy, Executive Director of the Missouri Democratic Party. “When a politician like Congresswoman Hartzler claims she cares about controlling spending, but has no problem spending hundreds of thousands of tax dollars on herself, it shows that it’s just impossible to trust Congresswoman Hartzler to look out for us.”

Is is not a conflict of interest for a lawmaker to vote on a bill for which they will benefit financially or have a financial interest in? Is there an ethics panel/commission that governs this?
