Never let it be said that I do not provide opposing points of view on the Turner Report. This comment, received a few minutes ago, calls me out for spreading "bs" about Joplin R-8 Superintendent C. J. Huff and Administration. After all, if there was a problem in the school district, the writer notes, we would already know about it.
My child has received a wonderful education in this school district. Her teachers and the staff at both Kelsey and East Middle have been everything I could ever have wanted for her. The opportunities that she will be able to have when she gets to attend the new JHS in a couple of years are light years above the average public high schools in this country. They are giving our kids a head start on being successful after hs.
If a kid is college bound then they will follow a curriculum that prepares them for the future the student has chosen. If college isn't in the cards for a student the curriculum will give them the chance to get certifications necessary to be successful WHILE in hs.
Our kids have the opportunities to use the 4 years to obtain college credits, real world life experience in different areas of employment so they can see what interests them before college. The opportunities our kids are going to have in 2014 are a gift that I hope every child in the USA will have one day.
Stop whining about how mean the bosses are and how scared the teachers are to talk. This is America. If 100 (or even 10) teachers left because of bullying or unfair treatment or harassment we would know about it. Huff isn't part of the mafia. Turner wouldn't be the only "brave" victim willing to show his face. I call bs.

Just like nothing was wrong at MSSU because you didn't know about it?
Ding, Ding, Ding... Anonymous nails it!
This letter writer has it right. If it was nearly as bad as Turner and these anonymous posters say, then the administration and school board would have plead "mea culpa" and resigned.
Just like a typical muckraker like Turner to claim there is something wrong being hidden. These are the same kinds of fools that sold their Enron and Worldcom stock.
This comment has three different ideas, the last not relating to either of the first two.
The first is about his/her child's experience with Joplin R8 elementary school and middle school his/her child attended and his/her satisfaction with said child's time in those schools.
The second expresses belief and hope: belief in Joplin R8 high school programs and hope for his/her child's success for the future.
The third and last, though, goes north in contrast to the first two which were traveling southwest and southeast: it is a denouncement of Turner who this person feels is "whining" about "scared . . . teachers" and then provides a hyperbole: "Huff isn't part of the mafia."
It appears quite obvious to me, an R8 teacher, that fear fuels the last paragraph of this person's comment; logic and facts are completely absent.
To the writer of this comment, I am sorry to pop your hot air balloon ride, but what Randy Turner writes about the R8 School District administration and teachers is, sadly, factual.
These people aren't going to cry "mea culpa." They don't think anything they do is wrong and they're too full of themselves to admit when they are. They would find that action a weakness. It's real.
This post might be the most stupid thing I have ever read. It reads like an advertisement for the "Dream Big" crew.
The 9:50 post was intended to be satirical support for the original poster. Just look for a recent Enron or WorldCom stock price. Or look for Enron and WorldCom criminal convictions. Capice?
