April 7 preliminary hearing set for accused killer of Hailey Owens

A 10 a.m. April 7 preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Craig Michael Wood, 45, Ash Grove, who is charged with first degree murder, kidnapping and armed criminal action in connection with the Feb. 18 death of 10-year-old Hailey Owens of Springfield.

Wood, a coach and substitute teacher in the Springfield Public Schools, is being held without bond in the Greene County Jail. He was represented by public defender Christoper Shane Hatley during this morning's arraignment.

Media reports indicate the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney's office may seek the death penalty.
