Arraignments scheduled in Barry, Lawrence counties for substitute teacher charged with sexual contact with student

An 8:30 a.m. July 27 arraignment has been scheduled in Barry County Circuit Court for a Monett substitute teacher charged with two counts of sexual contact with with a student.

Loryn Barclay, 24, posted $10,000 cash bond, according to Barry County online records.  Barclay had already posted a $25,000 surety bond in Lawrence County, where she is charged with two counts of the same crime with the same 17-year-old boy.

Her arraignment in Lawrence County is scheduled for 9 a.m. July 24.

School officials told the Monett Times Barclay had been working as a paraprofessional since the beginning of the year and was fired April 27, the same day officials learned about the sexual relationship. Before becoming a paraprofessional, she had worked as a substitute teacher.
