Neosho School District mourns loss of Sydnee Humphries

(From Neosho School District)

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Sydnee Humphries, a recent Neosho High School graduate, died, Thursday, June 1, 2023.

Sydnee loved to sing and was excited to pursue a career in cosmetology.

The choir director shared that Sydnee loved to sing, was often smiling and giving hugs, loved helping others and was a caring and supportive friend to many others in the choir. Our hearts go out to all of her family and friends.

The Neosho School District’s counseling team will be available to speak to any student or staff member for grief counseling and to help process the emotions you may be experiencing.

The counseling team will be at the Neosho High School from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., today, Friday, June 2.

If you need further support, please contact Talmage Clubbs, director of school counseling, at 417-456-8749 or by email at clubbstamage@neoshosd.org.

This is a Hard Time for the Family and Friends of Sydnee Humphries - so Young and with her Whole Life in Front of her. Our Thoughts and Prayers to Her Family and Friends and the Others involved in this Accident - -

All we know is she crossed over the center line and caused this Head-On Crash that Killed Her - - Hopefully - She was not Texting, Talking on Her Cell Phone, Putting on her Make-Up or being Distracted - - which is so is easy today - with Cell Phones or doing other things in the Car - when you should be Razor Focused on the Road and Your Surroundings.

Hopefully the Highway Patrol - will do a thorough Investigation - Including - Research on Her Cell Phone - to see if she was on it / using it / Etc., - in any form - to see if was a potential cause of the Accident.

Yet so many Teens are Easily Distracted while Driving - -

The National Safety Council States - The number of crashes by driver age varies greatly. Some age groups are over-represented in crashes. Sixteen- to 19-year-olds represent 3.6% of licensed drivers, but account for 9.3% of drivers in all crashes and 6.3% of drivers in fatal crashes.

Teen Driver Behaviors That Put All Road Users at Risk:

Lack of experience.
Distractions.
Driving with friends.
Speeding.
Weekend and night driving.
Drinking and drug use.
Lax seat belt use.

Please - Have a Heart to Heart Talk with Your Teen Drivers - - about Driving and Road Risks - - Don't Let them become another Statistic...

Really not the time or the place for this, plenty of adults do the same thing…. it was an unfortunate accident that could happen to anyone of us.
