The preliminary hearing for a Lamar man charged with sexual exploitation of a minor is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday in Barton County Circuit Court.
James Thomas Mayfield, 26, allegedly contacted a 16-year-old Golden City High School student on SnapChat, and they exchanged nude photos, including photos of Mayfield masturbating.
According to the probable cause statement, Mayfield, who at the time was a janitor at Liberal High School told investigators he got into trouble with his employer for contacting a Liberal High School student in early 2022. He told investigators district officials told him what he had done was against district policy and gave him a warning.
A bond reduction hearing will also be held.
