NFL at it again; local TV to be banned from shooting games

Joplin television stations that want to send photographers to cover Kansas City Chiefs games might as well forget it.
NFL owners voted 32-0 to ban local photographers from sidelines during games this season. Apparently, the multi-millionaire owners are concerned because some stations have used unauthorized footage on their websites.
If local TV stations want NFL footage, they will have to get it from the networks.
While I can understand putting a limit on the amount of footage that can be used, it seems to me the NFL owners are forgetting that their teams and their products are receiving an unbelievable amount of free publicity.
Of course, this is coming from a league that is putting the Dec. 23 Kansas City Chiefs-Oakland Raiders game on the NFL Network, which few Chiefs fans can access.
The owners backed down last year after they tried to put a similar rule into effect. I don't see that happening this time. Greed is the name of this game.

Glad to see you are several months behind on this.

The NFL season is ready to begin, people are challenging the new policy, albeit unsuccessfully; I would say I am right on time. And if you are referring to the same decision being made last year, which I wrote about two or three times, that decision was rescinded. This one, thus far, has not been.

I'd say you are behind, now slap your face.

NFL | League cutting down on sideline traffic

Mike O'Hara, of the Detroit News, reports local television affiliates were removed from the sidelines under a policy adopted Tuesday, March 28, by the NFL owners. They no longer will be allowed on the sidelines during games, which prevents them from shooting footage to show on news and highlight shows.

Again, if a story is still going on, I don't see how reporting on it can be considered being behind, but if it makes you feel happy, yes, the decision was made a few months ago (and I never said it wasn't). However, the effects of that decision have yet to be seen and the battle against the decision is still being fought. If you have something constructive to say about the issue itself, please feel free to do so.

It only matters if Randy scooped the Globe, Daily, Business Journal or any of the soulless television stations.
