Billy Long votes against Hurricane Sandy disaster relief for New York, New Jersey

Apparently federal disaster relief, which is a good thing when it comes after a tornado in Joplin, becomes an unspeakable evil when it is proposed after a hurricane hits New York and New Jersey.

Seventh District Congressman Billy Long was one of 180 representatives to vote against the package, which passed today by a 241-180 margin.

Long was not alone in his opposition to the $60 billion package. He was joined by fellow Missouri Republicans Vicky Hartzler, Sam Graves, Blaine Luetkemeyer, and Ann Wagner.

The only Missouri legislator to vote for the package was Democrat Lacy Clay.

Emanuel Cleaver and JoAnn Emerson were absent.

Billy must have been out of state during the last three tornadoes that struck South west MO in the last few years.
