Teacher puts job on line to challenge Common Core Standards

I would not at all be surprised to read soon about sixth grade teacher Christy Hooley losing her sixth grade teaching job in Wyoming.

Ms. Hooley, originally a supporter of Common Core Standards, researched them and ended up coming out solidly against them. Her principal ordered her not to share those views within the school- so she has shared them on a much larger scale.

The types of problems she notes with Common Core are things that should worry all teachers.

Another educator in trouble for talking about her opinions. How can teachers teach and expect students to share opinions in an open forum if they are not allowed to do the same? Teachers who want to remain employed right now must not express, or necessarily even have, an opinion.
