Court document: Former tech employee had pornographic photos of 10 Joplin schoolgirls on his laptop

After the arrest of Joplin R-8 tech employee Ronny Justin Myers on child sexual exploitation charges earlier this month, Superintendent C. J. Huff told media that Adams' job provided no access to children.

While he may not have had access to the students, Myers did have access to pornographic images of those students, according to a sentencing document filed today in U. S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri.

In the document, Assistant U. S. Attorney Abram McGull says that during a three-hour interview "defendant admitted that he has secretly stored child pornography on his computer. He stated he had approximately 10 child pornography images of Joplin School District co-eds on his laptop. Four of the girl have been positively identified as D. F. (age 15), LS (age 16), GS (age 16) and NC (age 15)."

The sentencing memorandum later says, "The defendant admitted he secretly recorded a 17-year-old engaging in sexual activity and covertly retained child pornography of Joplin School District co-eds who ranged in age from 15 to 16 years old."

The document does not indicate whether the laptop belonged to Myers or to the school district.

The sentencing memorandum includes a long list of transgressions by Myers and a request that the judge sentence him to 25 years in prison when sentencing takes place 10 a.m. Friday at federal court in Springfield.

During the three-hour interview, Myers admitted to having sex with the nine-year-old daughter of his girlfriend five years ago and to setting up a meeting at Northpark Mall with the girl February 15 during his lunch break. However, it was not the girl, but a member of the Cyber Crimes Task Force posing as her who had set up the meeting.

Realizing that he was about to be arrested, Myers took off and was involved in a high-speed chase before being captured.

Myers also admitted that he had sex with his new wife's three underaged daughters.

"The defendant was very candid and forthcoming about his sexual attraction to little girls less than 12 years of age."

Thanks. I will fix that.

How did Meyers manage to gain access to those students? Did he develop a relationship with them at school? Very frightening for parents!

How is CJ going to lay his head down on his pillow tonight knowing that he provided the means for this sick man to enjoy child pornography made on the high school computers? I believe he owes Mr. Turner a huge public apology. We predicted this kind of thing would happen, as well as the downturn in scores, but yet they cling to the fairy tale of the 21st Century school. There are sick people everywhere, and the children are not mature enough to be turned loose with unlimited access to this kind of technology. There's no changing that.

Wow. Joplin students were photographed without their knowledge. Where is the district's liability in this since he was a district employee?

What this man did with the computers is sickening and disgusting beyond description. He is a sick man who should never see the light of day again. However, what cannot be overlooked is CJ's comment that Myers had no contact with the students. Obviously, that just wasn't true. In fact, it was blatantly wrong. Another "untruth" with horrifying implications. We'll hope that the Board can hold to another 7-0 vote and dismiss their dishonest superintendent.

I just don't get it. I don't get how anyone could rape a nine year old girl and only get 25 years in prison. He deserves life.

I also don't understand why kids are allowed to take the computers home if this is what is happening. Why? Where are the parents of Joplin students? Kids get curious and push boundaries. They can't be supervised every stinking minute. They should have known this would happen. It makes me sick.

Perhaps the parents should file a class action suit against CJ and Angie. Anyone with any sense knows you can't give 2200 kids computers and not have this happen. We predicted it. It happened. And they didn't come forward. As usual. They are so used to breaking the law and doing what they want that they see themselves as invincible. It's time for parents and the law to show them and all of their cohorts they're wrong. Hold them accountable for endangering children.

I hate this district and its damned technology and its hateful administrators and its no-discipline attitude. Crap like this happens when you don't think about realities and only dream big all the time. Things get away from you and there's no cleaning it up.

If he downloaded the porn off the kids' computers then he knew full well who they were, where they lived, and how old they were. He could easily have made contact with them, and obviously, they were in far more risk than any child ever could have been in Turner's room (none were ever in the slightest risk except in the eyes of Huff & Co.). Shouldn't those who provided the computers and put these kids at a real risk instead of a hypothetical risk be fired by their own definition of school safety? Yes. Yes, they should be.

As disgusted as we all are we need to take action and also be aware of this happening all over the world - and it being legal. Just yesterday I read a story that took place in YEMEN where an 8 year old died on her wedding night due to sex. Sex trafficking is at an all time high, and the news tonight had the arrests and sentences handed down in NEVADA, MO for a sex trafficking ring. Keep your ears and eyes open and be involved. Thanks Randy for your report.

Very sad that Huff and his blind followers are dumbing down this information to keep it from us. This information must be made public and Huff needs to answer to all of the lies that he tells the public. Our kids deserve this.

I wonder when (or if) the Joplin Globe will be publishing this information. I miss the olden days when the Globe did not filter the news to suit the desires of their favored ones.

Class. Action. Lawsuit.

I am baffled by people blaming computers for this. There were serious mistakes made clearly, but this is a person who has abused children without need of a computer before and if not stopped would do it again.
As for the fact that there will be some inappropriate use of the computers anyone with a pulse could tell you that. These are teenagers and they're going to push limits, but they have cell phones and computers whether the school uses them or not.
Pretending we live in the past and ignoring the technology around us isn't going to protect anyone, it's just going to make it harder for them to learn to use the tools they will need to use.

I think your site shouldn't even allow for people to put comments about how they feel towards another person. I mean it's great to inform people of what's going on but to have a place where they can leave comments and some of them are really hateful and going to hurt another person like myself reading it. The child molester that everybody wants to die or suffer for is my brother. And I do not condone what he has done and me and my family to feel for the victims. But we do and I still love my brother I know things will never be the same again and to tell you the truth my parents are suffering greatly because of this. The little girls that are my brothers victims my family and I we have love those little girls and we never knew any of this had happened and neither would we ever condone it if we had it we would turn them into the police our self if we known that he was a child molester. But it still doesn't mean that we still have love for him. But my mom and dad and myself we have a lot of Shame and we have guilt thinking that maybe we should have known but what it all comes down to is family the victims is now damaged and now my family is now damaged and things are never going to be the same again. My mom and dad are never the same again. That doesn't mean that he shouldn't have been arrested because he absolutely needs to be. But to have a website to where you are condoning any kind of comments I think it's best that you just don't have that at all. And I think you're condoning hate or an opportunity for hate and for the child molesters family like myself me being his sister can't stand to see people write about my brother wishing death upon him because you are killing us as well when you write things like this. You need to think about not only the victim's family but running just a Myers family as well what if the shoe was on the other foot. People think about that. And I think if you can still Express so much hate and ugliness about a life even if that person is a monster then I think you have no soul at all. And for the ones that do have a soul we need to pray for the victims and never stop and please pray for my family because now are heart a good chunk of it is gone as well and a chunk of it is gone for the victims that we had loved and cherished. All you haters out there should feel ashamed of yourself for showing such ugliness

I think your website shouldn't have any option for anybody to be able to leave a comment on it. I think it's condoning people that have a lot of ugliness to say such hurtful things about people. I think it's wrong to allow any kind of hate you put on a website like that. We need to pray for the families that were involved on both sides. Meaning we need to pray for Ronny Justin Myers that molested those girls and also pray for the victim's family most of all. But to everyone how does child molesters should die I think that is terribly wrong and it's so very hurtful. I do not condone anything that my brother has done to those little girls. And our family is torn apart along with the victims. My parents are not ever the same again a piece of our heart have went along with the victims that lost pieces of their heart and their life. But to think that I don't love my brother you are so very wrong I do love my brother very much and we were very close Christian family. And my family love those girls that were his victims. And we had no idea what my brother was capable of doing. But we also don't condone it either and if we would have known we would have definitely made sure to seek help and made sure that he would pay by going to jail for everything that he has done to those girls. But for somebody to say that he deserves to die and he deserves the worst of the worst done to him what kind of people are you? Do you think that he was just some mindless soulless child molester that was never loved by a family? Well you're wrong she is loved but we also hate this as much as you all do. It has crushed us and for those poor little girls and everything they had went through it's crushed them and we can't ever put any of it back together we are all broken it is terrible for us and for those little girls. So I think you all should feel very very bad and guilty for saying such terrible things about my brother and maybe we should stop with all this hate and do what we really are supposed to be doing and that's pray for those victims and for us as well. It's pathetic how ugly you all can be it's easy to say that you could wish somebody would die but if it was your son your brother your uncle your dad that had done it and you didn't know that he was a child molester let's just say you wouldn't know unless you were in our position

My brother my brother that you are all talking about Ronny Justin Myers is very sick. And he needs help. And he also needs to have surveillance at all times or a monitor on him I agree with that. I think it's great that our website educates people. But I think it's wrong to allow comments hateful comments be said about another person... Another life. Me and my family will never condone what terrible things he has done to those little girls those poor little victims. But we are also very sad that all this has happened. If we would have known we would have took action ourselves. And my family love those little girls and we were raised in a very Christian family. I never knew he was capable of all this. But please have a soul whenever people wish death upon him maybe not so much on this site but I have read on other sites wishing the worst of the worst very graphic detail things that people want to do to him. But know that we should be not spending so much time writing angry things about the child molester.. Which happens to be my brother.. And we should use our energy to pray for those victims and please pray for us. Two families are now broken forever my parents are never the same again. And I have kids myself. So it isn't like I wouldn't understand how all you parents and non-parents Phil. I used to say very bad things about child molesters until now the shoe's on the other foot and I realized until you're in that situation you really should just keep your mouth shut if it's an angry comment that you want to leave or an ugly one. Instead we should be using our energy to do more good and to reach out for victims and to help them. To do more good
