I will admit at first I was a bit concerned when I saw what appeared to be an outpouring of sympathy for beleaguered Sen. Gary Nodler, R-Joplin, in the comment section on one of yesterday's blog entries.
Finally, I had gone too far (even though what I was saying was nowhere near as harsh as the things I have said about the senator in the past). One writer after another was lining up to defend Sen. Nodler and my frequent reports about his "movie meltdown."
One claimed to be a lifelong Democrat who just happened to tape Nodler's appearance on KODE (and I am not saying that didn't happen), but the statistics on my website seem to indicate otherwise.
Nearly every comment appears to have been made by someone from the same computer and apparently no one from that computer has ever visited the website before. My statistics indicate the person has made 15 visits to the site today, going directly to yesterday's Nodler story (apparently to leave comments) nearly every time (my records only show the last 20 visitors so I have no way of knowing if the person went directly to that link the first few times he or she visited.
I will go along with one thing the person said. It is possible that my recollection of Nodler's TV interview was off. If that is the case, I apologize. Obviously, I was confusing it with the comments Nodler made to Max McCoy of The Joplin Globe.
"If you have clients who cannot behave without disturbing other patrons," Nodler said, "they shouldn't be there. The fact that someone is disabled is not a license to act inappropriately." And while Nodler has a point, his subsequent actions, including his paranoid comment in the next paragraph that this happened because someone was out to get him, certainly indicate a meltdown, at least of the political variety, to me.

Knowing the way you keep track/publish the stats, I will probably keep from commenting in the future. You probably won't have as many hits on the site either.
Don't you just love the trolls? Hide behind "anonymous" while claiming to have better information. Now we find anonymous is paranoid.
Keep being a watchdog, Randy. We need far more like you.
I'm with doc! Huzzah for Randy Turner.
Let him/her pad your numbers Randy, we all know that the dissatisfaction with Nodler was running pretty high on all of the Globe after article comments. Most of the people I know think the guy is nothing but an insensitive jerk.
If you'd like to review original The Joplin Globe report on 8/7/05 of the theater incident by Investigative Reporter Max McCoy, the website address is: http://www.joplinglobe.com/story.php?story_id=200419 -- *From enormous near-record numbers of Globe reader Comments, it appears there is plenty of criticism of 'prudish' State Senator Nodler's own inappropriate reactions including his subsequent childish selfish behaviors in efforts to get the young nurse's aide fired, and then even an attempt to make life miserable for the veteran McCoy. It appears that plenty of others have called the incident a 'meltdown' too. Could that mean Randy's readership is that huge, or do you think maybe many look at it as a 'meltdown'? I would call it 'demise' or the end of his career as a State Senator. Tragically for him, the movie 'incident' was not about Gary Nodler fighting for something important to Southwest Missourians, but it was about Gary Nodler fighting for Gary Nodler and making an "ass" of himself. His reactions have clearly shown he is too full of himself to serve his 'common' constituents who are for the most part just plain good country folks. He can't deny that! If he 'didn't say' the things others heard him say, why is he continuing to be so defensive. He, and his 'Anonymous' cheerleader's comments are only adding fuel to the fire of his own demise, or so it appears to this reader and I'm sure a consensus of others. A sincere apology and a short explanation that it was simply a misunderstanding and might have been a misappropriate slip of the tongue in talking to his brother in public would have greatly simplified his 'incident' but he is apparently far too prideful and thinks entirely too highly of Gary Nodler for that honorable gesture which in itself is highly unbecoming a person in his elected position. "Grace, Gary, it's called 'grace'. Perhaps he has been hobnobbing too long with his Federal political 'buddies' and their wealthy 'friends' to remain 'one of us' Southwest Missourians. It's time for Gary to move on with his next career choice, be it a lobbyist, a consultant, or whatever. He simply got too tall and the wind has blown him over!
I almost regretted writing anything, but once it became apparent that most, if not all, of these comments were coming from one person pretending to be several, I figured something needed to be done. I have no problem with people disagreeing with something I have written; that happens all of the time, but I prefer that it be done honestly.
Gary's comments at the theater were typical of his pattern of behavior over the years, especially since his election to the Senate. He is probably the most self-important, arrogant blowhard I have ever had to deal with. I am reminded of a time several years ago, when several teachers visited Jeff City and tried to convince him to vote for additional school funding. He treated them like dirt, and when one of the teachers called him on it, he called the local school district and tried to get them to "do something about" the teacher. I'd like to buy him for what I think he's worth, and sell him for what he thinks he's worth!!
Old guy is having fantasies. Nodler is only in his third year in office. Its only his first year on the education committee, so we know he didn't say anything to any teacher several years ago in Jefferson City, but the myth goes on.
By the way Randy,
Why would you have been concerned about an outpouring of sympathy for Nodler? Do you have an anti-Nodler bias? The Randy Turner meltdown continues!
Randy may not be biased against Nodler but I sure as hell am.
and who are you?
Just one of the multitude that thinks Gary Nodler is a jerk. Come to think of it, I suspect you think so too but are just not willing to admit it.
Most people scream loudest about things in others that are true of themselves it is human nature, That’s the interesting thing about anonymous comments it is almost always self-examination so when you say something about Nodler or anyone else, look in the mirror because the truth is you define yourself. It’s an interesting psychological truth.
Instead of looking in a mirror, how about just looking in somebody else's window. Don't pretend you don't know what I am talking about.
