Blunt backs President Bush's Iraq troop buildup

Seventh District Congressman Roy Blunt is standing firmly behind President Bush's plan to increase the troop levels in Iraq. Blunt released the following statement Wednesday:

"President Bush clearly and plainly articulated that he understands the consequences of failure in Iraq when he spoke to the American people tonight. The president knows there is no silver bullet to make our mission there easier, but he is committed to a new, better strategy that will move us toward a stable Iraq. I support the new steps that the president outlined. It is not the responsibility of Members of Congress to dictate strategy to the Commander-in-Chief, who is ultimately responsible, along with the commanders on the ground, for implementing a winning strategy.
"I was pleased to hear the president repeat what he has told the Iraqi leaders: the Iraqis must be principally responsible for Iraq's future.

Maybe he and Shrub would care to pick up a rifle and lead like a real commander in chief. Perhaps Barbara and Jenna could drive the Humvee now that Pvt. Lynch is home. I see even the British royal family is sending their son to the front. Sen. Boxer was right when she pointed out that Condi and the rest of the DC powerful leech off the sacrifices of other, less powerful but more worthy, citizens.
