"When the pilots were talking about a level-five thunderstorm, that was misinterpreted as a tornado," Robinson said. "We didn't check the local, on-the-ground weather before sending out that advisory."
Robinson apologized for the confusion.

Governor's office apologizes for tornado message
Earlier this afternoon, Governor Matt Blunt's spokeswoman Jessica Robinson apologized for a media advisory sent out Friday citing "inclement weather and tornadoes in the Joplin area" as the reasons for canceling the governor's scheduled stop at West Central Elementary School.
