Lewis was city manager in Joplin, Mo., for 10 years before being hired as the top administrator in Lee's Summit. He also served as city manager in Auburn, Maine, for four years and was town manager of Flower Mound, Texas, for four years.
He holds a master's degree in public administration from the University of North Texas at Denton, and a bachelor of science degree from Texas A&M University at College Station. Lewis played football while at Texas A&M. His son, Andrew, is a sophomore offensive player for Oklahoma State University in Stillwater this year.

Former Joplin city manager to begin new job next week
Former Joplin City Manager Steve Lewis, most recently city manager at Lee's Summit, will take the same position in Norman, Okla., beginning next Monday, according to the Daily Oklahoman:
