Globe: Attorney general investigating Rita Hunter

In the latest installment of her series of stories about Rita Hunter, Joplin Globe reporter Susan Redden reveals the Missouri Attorney General's office is investigating the former Jasper County public administrator:

Hunter also is the subject of an investigation that was launched after it was learned that all the wards’ records had been taken from the public administrator’s files, and that computer files on the wards had been erased before Casavecchia took over on Jan. 1. Hunter later returned about 30 boxes of files, and additional materials were taken from her house as a result of a search warrant.

That investigation is being handled by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and an outside audit of office files is under way. Patrol investigators now are working under the supervision of the Missouri attorney general’s office, said Dean Dankelson, Jasper County prosecutor.
