In case any of you have missed it, I have received a barrage of comments, mostly from one source, since my post last week describing lobbyists' gifts accepted by Sen. Gary Nodler, R-Joplin, and his wife, Joncee. Among the comments:
Who cares? Someone with some kind of envy, unhappy with his life and a blog that covers up his inadequacies.
Randy, how about reporting some of the things (donations, hours of volunteer work) the Nodlers GIVE freely.
Both Gary and Joncee have supported.with time and money, to several projects I know about. Just things I know about personally are worth far more than the amount of "gifts" you have dragged through the mud about them.
Randy, What on earth are you talking about? Why do you think the person that said he or she didn't care about Nodler's meals has some inadequacies? And how on earth does their commenting about your trying to make something out of nothing with the Nodler's constitute covering up something of theirs????? Your response is really spooky, really weird, unless you think that it is Nodler himself and that would suggest a level of paranoia on your part that should lead you to seek help. Really Randy you seem out of control here.
Randy, Boy. When I hear that you start giving like the Nodlers I might take you seriously.
The day I hear you have become a Hospice volunteer and go to the home of a dying man to take care of him every week. When I hear you are helping him. Cooking a meal, cleaning his house, doing his laundry, talking to him and helping him not be so lonely, then I might listen to your silly concerns about a meal or a game ticket. Yeah, Randy, I can just see you doing laundry for a sick and dying old man that is basically a stranger to you.
I hope you're still not taking your laundry home for your mother to do.
Grow up Randy and be half the human beings that Gary and Joncee Nodler are.
Hey man....I've paid for a few meals for people and didn't expect one thing back....and I am in as much a position to want things from legislators as any lobbyist. Aren't we all lobbyists for something...for some group of which we are a part or for our religion or for our school....
we can deliver votes and influence just as much as most lobbyists...
If you don't think the pastor of a large church or the owner of a large business or the leader of a large group such as a sportsman's group can't deliver votes, then that makes it easier to understand why your party doesn't do very well in this neck of the woods. You don't have to be registered to be a lobbyist!
In an area that covers the size of a Missouri State rep or even a Missouri state senator, you can do an awful lot with a relatively low number of votes.
As i noted in my comments, the only time The Turner Report ever receives this kind of commentary is when I write about Gary Nodler...the man whose wife receives more gifts from lobbyists than half of the state senate. Fortunately, my commenters (or commenter) have let me know that no one's votes are ever swayed by lobbyists or the campaign contributions they can arrange.
I will sit back and and wait for the flood of comments.

To the casusal observer such a myself, it appears like you are beating a dead horse. I agree with the person who commented "Who Cares?" Is the news in Joplin so slow that you HAVE to write a blog article about a politicain who accepts a dinner or a baseball ticket from a lobbyist? Last time I checked there was nothing illegal about this. Why don't you do your due dilegence, and in a truely non-partisan show of integrity , publish other more liberal leaning politicians contibutions from lobbyists as well. Otherwise it appears you are picking this one conservative politician, following the truest operating principles of the mainstream media , by pandering to liberal politicians.
Good grief! What the heck is wrong with you people. I thought you were only attacked with this much fervor you speak badly about Obama.
Lets remember that Gary Nodler is the one who verbally accosted a 19year old girl, who had chaperoned a group of mentally retarded adults to a movie theater in the middle of a work day, becuase one of the men in the group disrupted his afteroon get-a-way.
Lets also remember that Gary Nodler is the one who gave (or is giving) away the Joplin Regional Center, now Office, to MSSU. Don't believe how it is being portrayed in the paper...The Regional Center had no idea this was happening, the Dept of Mental Health was NOT in agreement with it. It was an under-handed, sneaky move by a man who has hopes of getting his name on a building before he terms out in 2010. Again, to the detriment of adults with mental retardation since many of them live near the Regional Center so that they can walk there when they need assistance from their case manager.
That Gary Nodler, quite a guy, huh? Why in the world would anyone speak negatively of him?
Obama - Turner - both out of their league and in positions they have no business being.
A career politician...when will Missouri see him for who and what he is??
Sounds like the same Nodler who called a well known political reporter and basically demanded an interview about some trivial thing that only Nodler wanted to talk about.
The guy is close to a sociopath who is only serving for his good. Who else truly has the time or desire to have suckers/cronies/wannabe's posting counterpoints to the truth?
Ahhh Randy. You finally found a fellow traveler (or have you?)
You think Nodler is bad now, you should have known him when he was on Gene Taylor's Staff. He gave a whole nuther meaning to "Little Tin God". Hell, half of Washington was looking for a tree to hang him from.
I sure Nodler did not do folks with disabilities any favors in the budget this year. I hope someone looks into his bias and exposes him before he decides to run for congress.
Randy, I am sure the positive comments were from his hired gun Rod Jetton.
These things are so funny, I love the one that says half Washington was ready to hang Nodler, and he never ever worked in D.C. So this shows what goofs comment on here. I also love the one that says he called a nameless reporter and demanded a story, anyone that knows Nodler knows he has never ever asked for an interview. These comments stuck on here have no credibility, what reporter, what story? There are no facts because no such things ever happened, like him being a "Tin God' in Washington when he never worked there. Such pure lies! Who do they think they are fooling? As for the disabled community, they are, in fact very thankful to Nodler for what he has done, not only in this budget but for years, he has tons of awards from those groups, you see those who work with and for the disabled know Nodler is and has always been their friend and strongest advocate in Jeff City.
One more thing, Nodler never gave or is giving away the Regional Center. The Regional Center is one of the many Joplin State offices that are scheduled to be consolidated into a state office building. The bill that Nodler sponsored in the Senate and Bryan Stevenson sponsored in the House just says that when and if the center abandons the building that the vacant property would go to the school. The bill does not cause the center to leave and has no effect unless and until the center relocates, so this is just another false claim. As to why so many responses to what you post about Nodler , maybe, just maybe you print more comments about Nodler that are false than you do about others. Or maybe he is well enough known that more people know that the comments are false. Another false claim, Nodler does not employ Rod Jetton and never has. The truth is such an inconvenient thing to character assassins.
I've never blogged before, but a friend told me I had been mentioned on the Turner Report, so I had to check it out. Thanks, first of all, to the person(s) who had nice things to say on my behalf. Having been on the receiving end of hospice care about 10 years ago, I decided I wanted to be a volunteer when I quit teaching - which I did about 5years ago. Being a volunteer for Community Hospice does not take a huge amount of time and is really rewarding. And, if you are not into the cleaning part, just sitting and visiting with someone who is unable to get out and have human contact is so appreciated by a patient. Anyone can do that. So, I'm putting in a plug for the area hospice organizations and the great job they do.
About the lobbyist expense reports, I've sometimes wondered where they get some of the numbers they show, but they do make for good stories. Admittedly, I do spend more time in Jeff City with my husband than most legislator's spouses. We like each other and are fortunate that we can spend time together. We prefer to spend that time privately, but when we are invited to dinner, we go together. I don't know why that bothers some people.
Now, I've finally joined the world of bloggers!
I'm sorry and not to be rude, but don't hospice rules state you should have no more than a life expectancy of less than 6 months due to terminal illness in order to qualify for hospice?
