In my post last night about the desperation of Billy Long, I noted that Jack Goodman had not accepted a campaign contribution from casino interests since 2002, quite contrary to the impression given by Long's robocall that Goodman was receiving campaigns right and left from gambling interests.
I made the mistake of just sifting through all of the contributions from Goodman's federal campaign and his state campaigns without checking through other documents filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission.
As a reader pointed out to me a few moments ago, Jack Goodman returned all casino contributions in 2002:
In a letter dated Aug. 14, 2002, to the Ethics Commission, Goodman wrote: "Please be advised that my campaign committee has refunded the following contributions." Listed were the $300 contribution from Isle of Capri and $150 from Missouri Gaming Company that I included in last night's post, plus $300 contributions from Harrah's Operating Company, Ameristar Casino Kansas City and Ameristar Casino St. Charles.
So not only did Jack Goodman not accept campaign contributions from gambling interests, but he has a clear record of fighting those gambling interests since he first took office.

Long's campaign has been taken over by the Steelman faction of the Republican Party.
That means that Jeff Roe is doing the only thing he know to do.
He has moved his attention from defeatnodler.com to lieaboutGoodman.com
To say he is a turdbreath would pay him a compliment.
It looks like this campaign in the GOP Primary has turned into a struggle for control of the Republican Party in Southwest Missouri.
Steelman versus Blunt.
Steelman wins massive changes through Billy.
Blunt wins, status quo through Jack.
Moon wins, the Rabbi runs the show.
Wardell wins, $2-off on a slab of ribs.
Hunter wins, his wages are immediately garnished.
I don't know which is the best or worst of these two options.
I'll guess we just have to wait and see.

It seems rather silly for some to make bold political predictions, as one "anon" does, yet not provide full name. To whom will credit be given for such pithy points of political punditry? Properly credited, they can perhaps earn a real job, move out of the basement of their parents home, have some cash to buy street clothes and get out of the pjs.

Really? If Jack Goodman isn't taking gambling money then why did he have his campaign meeting at the Ameristar in St. Louis?
At least that's what Lucas Case said at the Tom Schweich fundraising event.
Has anyone put together that Goodman's senatorial committee with Missouri is lead by HIM ... which means he has access to use the funds.

To Bo: State statutes prevent Goodman from using contributions from his state campaigns for federal office.

It has been a practice of many state legislators to have fundraisers at Ameristar and other casinos for years to gather up the dollars from lobbyists and other special interests.
Jack did this without hesitation to get thousands of dollars for use for future races at either the state or county level.

No, in this case, grandstanding only required Goodman to stand on the sidelines and get constant text messages about the press coverage for Purgason on his on-floor speech.

Who was it reporting Jack has missed votes in the last 5 years, many more than the 4 other Senators from Southwest Missouri?
