The Citizens Advisory Recovery Team will host a final community open house on Thursday, January 12, 2012 from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce located at 320 East 4th Street in Joplin.
The meeting provides an opportunity for community members to review the work done to date by the Citizens Advisory Recovery Team and ask questions about the implementation steps. “We invite everyone with any questions about the implementation processes to attend this open house. This will be the final opportunity to review the steps and ask questions before the steps are taken to the Joplin City Council, Joplin School Board, The City of Duquesne and the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for approval,” said Jane Cage, Chairman of the Citizens Advisory Recovery Team.
The open house features display boards organized according to the four recovery sectors: Infrastructure + Environment, Housing + Neighborhoods, Schools + Community Facilities, and Economic Development. Attendees will be able to review themes that have emerged from the public comments and identify what they see as their top priority recovery issues and opportunities.
Members of the Citizens Advisory Recovery Team and community leaders will be on hand to discuss the process and ideas. A third meeting will be held at a later date for citizens to review and confirm a vision and goals for recovery of the Joplin area.
