Ravitch puts focus on Chris Nicastro dealings with Sinquefield group

The most powerful of the education bloggers, public school proponent Diane Ravitch turned the national spotlight on Missouri a few moments ago with her latest post noting the Kansas City Star article on Education Commissioner Chris Nicastro's tango with a Rex Sinquefield group attempting to eliminate teacher tenure:

If the proposed bill should pass, teacher retention would depend on student test scores. The bill would require the creation of many new tests. When asked to estimate the additional costs, the commissioner declined.

Ms. Nicastro rewrote what her own department said about the potential cost of this measure. That is a good indication of where Ms. Nicastro's sympathies lie.
