I don't want him back. An independent, respected attorney hired by council to investigate ethics violations found that Mike Woolston had committed them and that Mr. Rohr had ten pages of problems that troubled five of the council members enough to fire him. The Joplin Globe demands the council release the report knowing by law it cannot do so as it is in his personnel record. Perhaps they should ask Mr. Rohr to release the records as is his right, and we can try this in the public opinion. I am not a bookie, but they would give ten to one odds that this will not happen. Obviously Woolston hhas an ethics problem so I understand why he voted against Rohr's firing, what are the other three council members excuses?

I have a problem with the "independent, respected" attorney. Who recommended he be hired? Head, I assume but don't know for sure. The investigator clears Scearce, which probably is true. Finds things on Woolston, who should resign from the council. Then Rohr is fired. Then immediately, Head is almost made city manager. Anybody else see a conspiracy here?

This was an inside assasination job. The city manager may have issues but he is clearly the strong leadership that Joplin needs to counterbalance the lunacy.

Tom Loraine is a respected attorney with experience in the U.S. Attorney's office. The entire city council voted to hire him on Woolston's request. I don't know if you have met Skippy the assistant city manager butt the council knows his capability to do the job. That is why Head was recommended to deal with the Master Developer. No conspiracy is going on, Rohr and Woolston got busted and should just both kick rocks down the road on the way to their next job!

Have you read the article in Esquire magazine about this issue? This is making joplin look absolutely ridiculous to the nation that reached out to us and helped us rebuild. Idiotic old men who need to be replaced TODAY! Not Rohr. The two ringleaders who are salivating to be relevant.

Btw I know FOR A FACT that scearce knew all about the gambling and he made a pretty penny for his own pocket in that gambling "business." So forgive me if I don't find anything the investigator said trustworthy because either he knows the truth and is covering it up or he was easily manipulated into believing scearce was innocent in that situation. Either way - HUGE WASTE of MONEY!

If I see Scearce in public, I just want yo pull his hair to see if it's real.

the 5 council members are heroes and the other 4 should be ashamed. why would they vote to keep someone that no other city will hire? if he is such a great leader why hasn't some other city snatched him up? We all know that he has interviewed for many jobs and been in the finalists and no one wants him when they take a close look. no one wants their city run by fear and intimidation. the 33 people defending him on facebook probably will lose their contracts with WB redevelopment.if he were re-hired the city would have to raise taxes to pay for all the hostile work environment lawsuits when he retaliated against the employees that dared to tell the truth about him.

The tornado hero myth needs to be laid aside now. That Rohr was there helping people does not set him above anyone else. Thousands of people were helping the victims of that storm. That he and Huff are both still milking that situation tells you that they exploited the community to their favor. True heroes would be embarrassed by the attention and would want to get back to business. These two are building their futures on the misfortune of the community, and that is shameful. You would do well as a community to have both the city's finances and the school district's finances audited by the State Auditor, because a lot of money was taken in and not adequately protected.

I have to agree with 5:45. As much as we all like a hero story, you can't judge a person solely by a short moment in time. You have to look at the decisions and actions of that person over time to get a true sense of that person's character. Many did things after the tornado that they would not have believed that they would be able to do, simply because things had to be done. That doesn't make them heroes. It just means they're human.

I think there is a lot more to this story than we have heard yet. The truth will come out and we will see who is innocent, if anybody is.

Fact: the tornado saved Rohr's job. He was set to be dismissed prior to the tornado once domestic violence and assault charges were brought forth but it was all covered up immediately in the aftermath of the tornado by the police chief and staff at Freeman. Why else would the chief retire now upon earning Missouri Peace Officers Association Chief of the Year? This cover up is on his head and on that of the physicians at Freeman who failed to file the proper reports.
