THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO NOON CST MONDAY. * SHORT TERM TRENDS...LIGHT SNOW WILL DEVELOP ACROSS EXTREME SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS AND WEST CENTRAL MISSOURI AFTER MIDNIGHT. THE SNOW WILL THEN SPREAD SOUTHEAST ACROSS MUCH OF THE REMAINDER OF THE MISSOURI OZARKS BY SUNRISE. THE SNOW WILL THEN END FROM WEST TO EAST FROM MID TO LATE MORNING. * TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...AREAS ALONG AND NORTH OF A COLUMBUS KANSAS TO AVA MISSOURI LINE AND ALONG AND SOUTH OF A PITTSBURG KANSAS TO FORT LEONARD WOOD MISSOURI LINE FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING. THIS INCLUDES THE SPRINGFIELD AND JOPLIN AREAS...ALONG WITH A LARGE SECTION OF INTERSTATE 44. * SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...ONE TO TWO INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED. * VISIBILITY...THE FALLING SNOW WILL REDUCE VISIBILITIES DOWN TO AROUND A MILE AT TIMES. * IMPACTS...ROADWAYS ACROSS THE REGION ARE EXPECTED TO BECOME SNOW COVERED AND SLIPPERY FROM LATE TONIGHT INTO EARLY MONDAY MORNING.
