Roy Blunt: Tax cut package is a win for Missourians

(From Sen. Roy Blunt)

Since 1986, Missourians have struggled under a complicated, broken tax code. That has to change.
The Tax Cuts & Jobs Act, which the Senate passed last week, will provide a much-needed tax cut for hardworking families and help make our country more competitive. It is a win for families, workers, and businesses.
But you don't have to take my word for it. Here's what Missouri job creators told the National Association of Manufacturers about what tax reform means to them:
  • "More business! Bringing work back to the U.S. will increase order rates, inventory, and development. This will create growth for DT Engineering." - Jim Sheldon, owner of DT Engineering in Lebanon

  • "Tax reform will unleash investment not just from us, but our customers." - Mike DeCola, owner of HBM Holdings in St. Louis
We have a historic moment right now to provide real tax relief for Missourians. We can't let this moment slip by.
This week, my Senate colleagues and I voted to start negotiations with the House of Representatives on a final bill. This puts us one step closer to getting our pro-growth tax cut legislation to the president's desk.
The Tax Cuts & Jobs Act will not only jumpstart a new era of growth and opportunity, it will make a real difference in the lives of families, workers, and small business owners in our state. These reforms will mean Missourians can keep more of the money they earn, allowing them to save for an emergency, start a college fund, or simply enjoy a meal out once in awhile. And, this bill will help businesses expand, create more jobs, and strengthen our economy, paving the way for more opportunities and better-paying jobs in the future.
I'm looking forward to seeing this bill signed into law and, instead of hearing stories from Missourians about how the tax code is holding them back, hearing how an updated tax code is helping them achieve their American dream.
