Lobbying school set for this week in Kansas City

Missourinet reports a lobbying school will be held Thursday and Friday in Kansas City:

Guyer, who has 30 years of experience lobbying, says he wants to hammer home to those lobbying in Jefferson City that they have to show lawmakers why it is in their best interests to support what the lobbyist wants for his or her client.

Guyer says it doesn't matter whether the lobbyist is coming from the political left or the right - the focus of the seminar is on learning ideas and techniques and putting them into practice. He adds special interest groups have been with us since the beginning of the country, putting pressure on lawmakers to provide individuals or groups with what they want.

More effective lobbyists...and this is a good thing?
