Nodler hits the jackpot with Downstream Casino

Downstream Casino just opened, but Sen. Gary Nodler, R-Joplin, had already hit the jackpot before the first paying customer entered.

Nodler's July disclosure report, filed today with the Missouri Ethics Commission, showed a $1,000 contribution, his biggest for the quarter, come from the Quapaw, Okla. casino.

The contribution was made on June 25, according to the report. The casino opened its doors to the public in July.

The casino contribution was one of six Nodler received from out-of-state sources, including $500 from the San Francisco-based drug company Genentech, two $250 contributions from Western Shamrock, San Angelo, Texas, $175 from Caremark RX, Phoenix, Ariz., and $650 from Connections Academy, Baltimore, Md.

Nodler's contributor list also includes five lobbyists:
