Retired billionaire Rex Sinquefield, in his continuing quest to remake Missouri (and apparently, the United States) in his own warped image, gave $800,000 to the It's Now Or Never PAC to fund a last-minute ad campaign for U. S. Senate candidate Todd Akin.
Thankfully, as Dan Rather says, that dog didn't hunt.
