Leara bill would make filing gun control bills a felony

Just when you thought the lunacy in Jefferson City had gone about as far as it could go, someone raises the bar.

The first reading for a bill from Rep. Mike Leara, R-St. Louis, that would make it a crime for his fellow legislators to file gun control legislation was held Monday.

The full text of HB 633 has not been posted on the Missouri House of Representatives website, but the bill description reads as follows:

Specifies that any member of the general assembly who proposes legislation that further restricts an individual's right to bear arms will be guilty of a class D felony

What should be a felony is wasting the taxpayers' time and money with this kind of frivolous bill.
