For the past 10 years, I have been covering Missouri politics on the Turner Report and through my columns for Huffington Post and Daily Kos.
While The Turner Report is not going anywhere, the new Inside Joplin venture will also include sections for Inside Missouri Politics and Inside Missouri Education that will include state news and commentary
As I noted during the introduction to Inside Joplin, education is probably the worst-covered beat of newspapers and other media outlets. Reporters relay meaningless educational jargon and the latest educational catchphrases without doing any careful examination of what is actually taking place in the classrooms and how taxpayer money is being spent or misspent.
I intend to cover those issues, both locally and on a statewide level, examining schools, legislation involving education, and educators who are succeeding in the classroom everyday despite all odds.
Inside Missouri Politics will examine legislation, how tax money is being spent, and offer news stories and commentary.
This will not be just an extension of what the Turner Report has done this past decade, but an expansion.
I will talk about more about this as we move closer to time for the new website to launch.
Contributions to help Inside Joplin, Inside Missouri Politics and Inside Missouri Education can be made at the accompanying indiegogo link.

Hi Randy,
I was wondering when you plan to start the Missouri politics and education features on the Inside Joplin website.
The Interim Education Committee is stopping in Joplin on Sept 25 at 7pm at Missouri Southern.
