In a portion of his latest newsletter, Rep. Paul Fitzwater, R-Potosi, addresses Gov. Jay Nixon's veto of HB 436, which would have nullified all federal gun laws in Missouri.
One of the big bills that was vetoed this week by the governor was HB 436. This bill would have blocked Missouri officials from enforcing federal gun laws here in our state. HB 436 declared federal gun laws invalid because gun regulations is not power granted to the federal government by the Constitution. In addition, the bill lowered the age for concealed to carry permits to 19 and allowed those with a valid CCW permits to openly carry weapons, even when prohibited by local ordinances.
House Speaker Tim Jones has already announced that our legislature will try to override Governor Nixon on this huge veto.
My two cents on this one is that we must continue to make sure that our 2nd Amendment Rights are protected. Our federal government wants to take control of our rights and lives. We MUST stand firm and send out a direct message that we are not gonna stand idle and let this happen. Stay tuned.

Are we going to secede from the Union next in order to prove we are the most conservative red state of them all? How ignorant and presumptuous. We don't want the federal government to rule us, heck no, but we depend on them to solve all of our problems, and if something isn't going right, it's surely the government's fault.
