Ace Mohr trial on robbery, assault charges to start Monday in Jasper County Circuit Court

On two occasions, former Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney Dean Dankelson dismissed robbery charges against Ace Mohr.

Theresa Kenney is prosecuting attorney now and her office's case against Mohr, 26, Carthage, for robbery and assault is scheduled to come to trial Monday, January 27.

Presiding over that case will be Judge Dean Dankelson.

In the current case, Mohr allegedly beat a Carthage man with brass knuckles and stole his wallet, phone and watch.

Mercy Hospital records showed the victim suffered "a swollen and tender left eye which he was unable to open; facial fractures of the orbital bones; facial fractures of the zygomatic process and facial fractures of the maxillary sinus all on the left side of his face," according to the probable cause statement.

Mohr also faces a domestic assault charge with a hearing in that case scheduled for February 3, the same day he is scheduled to have a probation violation hearing. Mohr was placed on probation following his January 26, 2018 guilty plea to two counts of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, including heroin, and receiving stolen property.

In exchange for that guilty plea, the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office dismissed four other possession charges.

Dankelson dropped armed robbery charges against Mohr in 2013 and 2015. In the 2013 case, Carthage Police arrested Mohr after he allegedly opened the front passenger door of a car at the Sonic Drive-In, slid in beside the driver and robbed him at gunpoint.

Mohr and two other men were charged with an October 4, 2015 robbery of a man staying at the Guest House Motel in Carthage. Carthage Police alleged Mohr held the man down on a bed at knife point, while the other two men searched for valuables.

That there is ok!

This stuff can be way harder than most people think.

People watch Judge Judy or the People's Court a few times 20 or more years ago and for the rest of their lives they think they got that!

And if you don't think so then maybe you aren't thinking right!

I'm here to say that being a judge is way more complicated than you think so maybe that's why you aren't a judge?

Besides if we start locking all the criminals up then there won't be room for all the librarians not following Brother Ben's laws to be locked up!
