Carthage Police: We will be issuing warnings to those who violate stay-at-home order

Good afternoon Carthage Community. Just wanted to update you on what has been happening with your Police Department.

Our officers have been practicing social distancing and taking precautions like many of you. We want to ensure you that our officers are still patrolling your neighborhoods and are here to serve. 

There have been modifications on what and how we respond to calls for service, but we are still here serving our community.

We have been receiving some questions regarding what actions we are taking during the Stay at Home Order. We want to let you know, our officers are not stopping vehicles based only on checking for compliance with the Stay at Home Order. 

They are not setting up roadblocks to check or stop individuals from coming into our City based on the Stay at Home Order. However, officers are still patrolling and enforcing City Ordinances and State Laws.

We have been responding to complaints of groups or situations that may be not complying with the Stay at Home Order. We have not been actively seeking out violators of the Order, have not been asking for any kind of papers regarding the Order or turning away any one entering our City. 

Our officers will be educating citizens about the Stay at Home Order and how important it is to follow the social distancing guidelines. They will be giving warnings for non-compliance and at a last resort will enforce the City Ordinance.
