Christian County reports first COVID-19 death, potential exposures

(From the Christian County Health Department)

The Christian County Health Department is heartbroken to announce the first death of a Christian County resident from COVID-19. We would like to express our sincerest condolences to the patient’s family and loved ones.

The patient was a female in her 60s and she had been hospitalized.

Christian County Health Department is also confirming two new cases of COVID-19. One case is linked to a cluster of positive cases being investigated in another county.

The second case is considered to be community spread due to investigators not being able to link the case to another positive case. Both cases have been quarantined at home and close contacts have been identified and instructed to quarantine as well. There are no community exposures to report in relation to these two cases.

Christian County has a cumulative total of forty-two (42) COVID-19 cases (thirty-seven (37) confirmed and five (5) probable). The health department is currently monitoring ten (10) active cases.

The health department is also releasing information to the public about potential community exposures related to five COVID-19 positive individuals being investigated by another health department. Four (4) positive COVID-19 cases visited Lambert’s Cafe in Ozark on Sunday, June 14th from 11:30 am-1:00 pm. All four (4) positive cases were infectious, did not show symptoms at the time, and none of them wore a mask.

One (1) additional positive case visited Lambert's Cafe in Ozark on Sunday, June 14th from 6:00-8:00 pm. The additional case was symptomatic, infectious, and did not wear a mask at the time of their visit.

Anyone who visited the location during the time frames listed is considered to be at low risk for contracting COVID-19 but should monitor themselves for symptoms.
