Missouri COVID-19 cases pass 18,000 mark as 413 cases added, one death reported

The spike in COVID-19 cases continued in Missouri as Department of Health and Senior Services statistics released Sunday showed an increase of 403 cases, with much of it coming from the southwest corner of the state.

A prime example is in McDonald County where state statistics showed a one-day increase from 170 to 366 cases, a total which is 107 below the number released by the county's health department on its Facebook page Sunday evening.

Other area increases, according to the state's statistics are Newton County from 177 to 265 and Jasper County from 197 to 222.

The state totals are behind what is being reported by the local counties.

Only one death was reported, leaving the state's total at 956.

The death was in St. Louis County, which leads the state with 547 deaths, followed by the city of St. Louis 148, St. Charles County 69, Kansas City 30, Jackson County 22, Jefferson County 19, Franklin County 18 and Scott County 10.

And still McDonald County will not tell where the high number increases are occurring. Seems logical they are keeping it a secret to keep people going to the creek area for monetary reasons versus safety of citizens. No brainer is it coming from the chicken processing plants located in the county because they need those workers going to work to make money for the big Ag companies. Seems like a warped sense of science that money trumps the safety of workers and citizens. Hmm, sounds like a typical republican gotcha.
