Large increase in COVID-19 cases in Newton County, 41 added in two days

Newton County's COVID-19 cases continued to multiply rapidly today as the health department announced 41 newly confirmed cases since the last report two days ago.

Newton County now has 157 coronavirus cases. Of that total, 108 are currently in isolation with three hospitalized, 310 are in quarantine, 95 have been released from quarantine and 209 are being followed, according to a department news release.

The cases are spread throughout the county, with a large number coming from Neosho, the news release said.
