Fourteen Joplin R-8 students, 17 employees test positive for COVID-19, 175 students under quarantine

(From Joplin Schools)

As per our communication plan, the District will provide periodic updates related to COVID-19 quarantines and isolations.

On October 16, Joplin Schools had 20 student isolations and 92 student quarantines. We also had three isolated employees and 11 quarantined employees.

As of today, we have 14 student isolations and 175 student quarantines. Additionally, we have 17 isolated employees and 23 quarantined employees.

As has been the case each week, these are not concentrated on any particular campus.

We have recently seen an increase in COVID-19 cases within our community. The effect is reflected in our updated numbers.

We continue to stress the importance of not only managing hygiene and social distancing at school, but also while we are away from school. We are still comparing well to our neighboring districts due in large part to the strict handling of protocols and consistency among our students and staff throughout the school day. I continue to applaud everyone's efforts to keep us safe, learning and in school.

Keep up the good work, Eagle Nation!

Trump and much of the Republican Party lied and hundreds of thousands of Americans died.
