Mike Olmstead new 6 and 10 p.m. anchor for KSN

Mike Olmstead, who was sports anchor at KSNF in the late '90s, is back with the station, this time sharing anchor duties on the 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts with Jessica Schaer.

Olmstead left broadcast news after serving as anchor of the Fox 14's News at Nine, his return to the Joplin market in 2011.

Olmstead anchored Fox 14's newscast for five years, being honored by the Missouri Broadcasters Association, which named him Best News Anchor in 2015.

Most recently, Olmstead has served as director of news and messaging at Missouri Southern State University.

After beginning his career at KSN, Olmstead worked as a sports anchor in Louisville and as a reporter at Fayetteville, Little Rock and Tulsa stations.

During his time as a sports reporter, Olmstead covered an NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Elite-Eight, numerous NCAA Basketball and Baseball Tournament games, a Las Vegas Bowl, Cotton Bowl, Independence Bowl and two Music City Bowls, along with a U.S. Open, two PGA Championships, a Ryder Cup, an SEC football and basketball Championship and the Little League World Series.
