The Newton County Health Department reported two COVID-19 deaths Friday, bringing the county's total to 78.
The victims were women in their 60s.
The department confirmed 12 new cases Friday, putting the total to date at 5,134. Of that total, 422 people are in isolation with 20 hospitalized.
