Neosho businessman charged with two counts of child molestation, furnishing pornographic material to a minor


The initial appearance for a Neosho businessman charged with two counts of child molestation and two counts of furnishing pornographic material to a minor is scheduled for 10 a.m.  Monday, February 22 in Newton County Circuit Court before Judge Anna Christine Rhoades.

Mikell Lee Cotton, 55, owner of Neosho Collision Center, allegedly committed crimes in 1997, 2003 and 2009 and was arrested in January following an investigation by the Newton County Sheriff's Office.

The probable cause statement alleges Cotton touched an 11-year-old girl's breast under her bra and attempted to remove her pants and touched her genitals over her underwear.







Cotton denied the molestation, according to the statement, saying he did not know why she would make up something like that.

"Mikel stated that (she) is such a sweet and quiet girl."

Another alleged victim who was 12 at the time of the alleged offense, claimed Cotton showed her pornographic movies and magazines on numerous occasions.

According to the probable cause statement, Cotton also denied that allegation.

On 10/14/2020 I spoke to Mikell Cotton in regards to the allegations made by (the girl). Mikell stated that he never showed (her) any magazines. Mikell stated that (she) would show him her her breast and come onto him sexually when she was younger, and he was disgusted by it.

The molestation of the third girl began when she was nine, according to the probable cause statement with Cotton victimizing her numerous times. The allegations including Cotton performing a solitary sex act in front of the girl, touching her breasts, showing pornographic movies, forcing her to perform a manual sex act on him and exposing himself to her while hanging a hanger on his sex organ.

Other acts were also described in the statement.

Cotton denied the allegations.
