The Newton County Health Department confirmed eight new COVID-19 cases today, according to statistics posted this afternoon on the department's Facebook page.
The new cases bring the county's total to 5,154, including 442 in isolation, with 20 hospitalized.
Newton County has recorded 78 deaths due to COVID-19.
The statistics do not include the portion of Newton County that is located in the Joplin city limits.
