Carthage man bound over for trial, charged with kidnapping, beating, threatening to kill woman


Following a preliminary hearing today in Jasper County Circuit Court, Ronald Allen Sealey (DOB 1965) was bound over for trial for allegedly kidnapping, beating and threatening to kill a woman.

Judge Joseph Hensley denied a motion for bond reduction. Sealey is being held in the Jasper County Jail without bond.

The allegations against Sealey are detailed in the probable cause statement. The following excerpt begins after a Carthage police officer arrived at the scene.







Two subjects were located, one male who had been identified as Ronald Sealey standing over the victim. The victim was laying in the fetal position and had duct tape wrapped around her wrists and ankles.

Sealey initially told arriving officers on scene that he had located the victim at witness 2’s residence. Sealey said that he assaulted the victim because they had broken into his garage and stolen items. Sealey was detained in double locked handcuffs and secured in the back of a patrol vehicle. Sealey was then advised of his Rights per Miranda and he advised that he understood.

The victim was seen by Emergency medical services on scene due to injuries. The victim disclosed that Sealey unlawfully entered the residence where they were at and assaulted them.

Sealey began using duct tape to restrict the victim’s movements while he continued to assault {her]. Sealey had been making statements about killing the victim and continued to assault [her] with his hands.








The victim stated that [she} couldn’t breathe during the assault due to Sealey holding his hand around [her] neck and restricting the airflow.
